cleaning maf sensor

Has anybody ever clean there maf??? The other week I washed my popcharger filter and put too much oil on it. Some of that oil got up to the maf screen and now my car is stalling on me in low rpms (below 1000) What type of cleaner should I use???

im 90% sure that you can use regular throttle body cleaner. Make sure though.
But it sounds like maybe the sensor itself is clogged up with that oil you used. That might constitute a new MAF

I think the throttle body cleaner should be fine. I've read on here that some guys have used electrical contact cleaner and have had no problems.

Yeah regular throttle body cleaner will work. I took out the maf and sprayed the cleaner on a couple q-tips and gently rubbed the little resistor thing. It cleaned right up and my car feels noticeably quicker now.

Electrical contact cleaner...Thanks i think i'll give that a try. Do you think it's safe to spray directly onto the sensor (there's alot of oil on that sensor)? The car is still stalling in 1st gear (only when i take my foot off the throttle), the rpms would drop below 500rpms and then the VQ would cut off on me . Thanks guys, i'll give you an update on the cleaner.

Would a bad sensor trip a CEL (check engine light)?

Is it the metal prongs that you clean? The resistor (is it the orange thing with a plastic cover over it)?
