What is the best way to dress up my engine?

I want to make my engine all nice, what is the best way to go about

1. cleaning it?
2. polishing intake manifold, valve cover and anything else?
3. dressing it up?

if anyone has a old tread or could help me out I would appreciate it.

Re: What is the best way to dress up my engine?

In my free time i detal carz, so I can help you with the cleaning aspect. Take your car to a car wash. Before you run your car though, get a degreaser and hose engine then apply. Take a scrub brush and scrub engine and hose again. Now take a lot of ArmorALL and go nutz and spray everywhere. Now close hood and send though the car wash. Comes out sparking! NOTE: keep car running and you might want to cover your distributor cap/spark plugs. I don't but i also go easy on spraying A LOT of H02 in there. Hope that helps.

Total cost is somewhere under $150 (that includes intake, breather, painting, loom, & FSTB). Sadly, the polishing of just the valve cover will cost me the same amount.

CD-2 Engine Cleaner and Detailer. $7 at Advanced Auto Parts.

Take 2000 grit wet sandpaper, sand off the laminate, buy metal polish from Advanced Auto Parts and start rubbing. 4 Hours later you might see the beginning of a shine. Or you can take them to a professional and get both done for about $400.
