Hi there,

I have a question on Maximas 99 with 5-spd. Is it normal to have 3x1000 RPM in 5th at 74mph?

N.B. the RPM seem to be the same on 215/55-16 and on 225/45-18.

Is it normal for 5-spd. to have such HIGH RPM at this speed in 5th?

P.S. My father has auto Maxima 98 and his RPM--2200 at the same 75MPH.

Yeah, man, I have a '99 5sp too and I'm almost positive she runs right about 3000-3500 when I'm in the 75-85MPH range in 5th. BTW I'm running on 225/50-16's.

i got a 96...the same thing happens to me.

 

That's because the manual's 5th is a 0.80 and 4th on an auto is 0.69. Guess which one gets better gas mileage?
