f#$@ing VANDALS

Some punk dented and scratched my hood. There is a large dent near the windshield on the drivers side, and then a couple smaller ones down towards the bumper. Also, there are scratch marks that run from the big dent all the way to the front of the hood. I just filed a police report in case I decide to report it to insurance. It looks to me like some drunk person (my apartment complex has a lot of college students in it) sat/jumped/stood on the hood and then slid off of it. I say drunk person because everybody walks past the car when they come back from parties (myself included).

This really ****es me off, and I wish I had seen the person do it. A few months ago I found footprints on the hood (like someone had walked on it). I really don't mind the small dings that are wear and tear on a car, but this was malicious and it's really visible.

So, now I'm going to call around and see if this can be fixed. The scratches aren't that deep so I may be able to just polish them out. Any ideas what this is going to cost me? The paint didn't crack in the dent, but there are a couple creases.

Re: f#$@ing VANDALS

That is just not right, dammit! People nowadays don't have any sense of responsibility. Even if the guy didn't mean to damage the car, he probably realized afterward and should have left a note.

Rare exception: Last summer, my dad and I returned to his car, a 98Max, after a round of golf. We see a post-it note on the windshield. Some guy wrote that in putting his clubs back in the car, he dented my dad's car. Wrote his name, number and also that he would pay to repair it. My dad and I went to the spot and the dent was a barely perceptible ding! Not even worth fixing! Now that's owning up!

I'm considering it, but I have a beige max so I don't think it would look great.
