Power steering noise - help(?)

Hey all,

Just started getting an odd noise related to my steering the other day.

Basically, it happens when I'm at a stand-still with the engine running. When I "rock" the steering wheel from left to right, 1/8 turn, there's a "clicking" noise when I turn the wheel each way. It's not a tie-rod end type noise though - I know that much. It seems to be coming from the engine bay; beneath the intake manifold somewhere. I know it's not a front strut bearing (they were just replaced).

It's weird: almost sounds like an actuator or relay clicking type noise: one click for every rock of the wheel in each direction. Hard to describe, but I hope that helps. Anyone ever experience this? Know what it is? I checked my Haynes manual, but it didn't give me much to go on.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Ok, checked the fluid level - looks good.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hmm. . .okay. Well, I guess as long as you've suffered no ill-effects from it, it may just fall under that broad, automotive category known as: "Noises? Ticks? No, no, - those are just personality traits!"

Unless I get some news on this, I guess I'll just learn to live with it. Thanks!

(Any further insights still much appreciated)
