I want to ask how fast is a Galant VR4? I know how fast a 3000GT VR4 is because my friend had one. Is the Galant VR4 as fast or faster than the 3000GT VR4? Interesting...I do have to say the 3000GT VR4 looks better though.

actually, i believe a good condition galant vr-4 is a high 13 or low 14, easily mid 13's with mods and driven properly. i have a friend in Maryland with a VR-4 running 12.60s with some tuning and a few mods.

What elevation is your track at? I trapped at 92.5-93.2 stock. 85mph trap speeds at a track at normal elevation indicates a problem. My 1995 Honda Civic EX (125 hp and 106 tq) trapped 85.06 on 17" wheels that weighed 23lbs a piece, my first time ever at the track, not knowing how to drive at the track. Assuming you aren't in colorado, there is something majorly wrong with your car.

Maybe, maybe not. There are 4 other 5 speed Maximas I race with at the track. A one of them have most of the boltons, one is stock, and two have an intake. I've seen them run anywhere from 16.0@87 all the way to 15.2@93. It all really comes down to your driving ability. All four of them have no where near the experience I have racing. The first time I went to the track in my Maxima (intake,y-pipe,muffler, slightly heavy 17s ~46 lb combo) I was running consistent 15.7s@90mph with 2.4-2.5 60'. Two years later and with an intake, y-pipe, UDP, B-pipe, and lighter 16s, I'm running consistent 14.7s@96mph with 2.3 60'. All that really changed between then and now is my driving skill and couple well choosen mods. Believe me, I too use to think there was something wrong with my car.

Low 14s with a stock Galent VR-4? I think not. The Galant is no better a performer than the Talon TSi AWD of that year. High 14s/low 15s is the norm, assuming a pretty hard launch. If you launch at 2000-3000, you'll be stuck in the mid 15s.

I was about to say the same thing, but I didn't know if they were talking about Galant VR4 or 3000GT VR4 at that point. There's no possible way a GVR4 is running a low 14 bone stock, they have the same drivetrain as the 1st gen DSM (low 15-high 14 stock) AND an extra 200-300 lbs to lug around. A manual boost controller can change this, but as they come BONE STOCK FROM THE FACTORY, they will never see low 14s.

at my track here in Washington St, i've seen a '91 or something around there Plymouth Lazer, which is essentially an Eclipse or Talon, with only front wheel drive tick off a 13.999 on stock equipment. he averages 14.2s with occasional 14.1s and 14.0x i don't doubt for a second a VR-4 can run a low 14 if it has been maintained.

Si vs 5-speed...i would say the 5 speed, that is assuming both cars have bolt ons. i know Si and stock autos can hang so it would be a good race to see.

you can get a Galant vr4 to low 14's with a couple free mods.. if you guys don't have any idea what you are talking about.. don't make stupid as$ statements.. this is not a world of assuming..

Theres no way he was absolutely bone stock. They simply do not have the power to weight ratio to make it possible. With free mods yes its easy, but with the car unchanged as it came from the factory, it is not possible, their power to weight ratio is not good enough.

Get your panties out of your butt, I was talking about stock. I think we're all aware of how potent the 2.0 turbo with AWD is. Please keep in mind that running "low 14s" with a couple "free mods" in a Galant VR4 is NO EASY TASK and is pretty rare. Unless one of those "free mods" involves removing the entire interior and bumper reinforcements, I don't see how you can get low 14s without buying mods. "Free" is NOT nothing you buy. Free is something you take off or adjust or modify with tools. What "free mods" are you talking about that take a low 15 second car down to a low 14 second car?

Re: 4th gen Maximas vs Si.

well i don't wanna say this, last week after i picked up my sister and her friends from the airport(4 people in my car), there was a civic si trying to race me off the line, there's no way he can keep up with me, just hate those civics thinking they have 250hp and $hit like that with those altezza tailights, and one more thing is i drive an AUTOMATIC!!!!!

I ran my car in the quartermile, and I'm a lot faster than 15.7, that's all I'm gonna say about that.

So any NA Maxes want to step up to the plate?
heh...i'm up to this...my friend has a blue 2000 civic si with an intake, headers, and exhaust...and i still beat him even though i'm an auto...where do u live?

I live in NYC, but you're most likely going to lose, no offense.

Got any friends with a 5 speed?

No, still waiting for a willing contender, but honestly I haven't been looking very hard.

It will happen sooner or later though.

CIVIC SI kill

With my 96 automatic GXE, I ran a 99 Civic SI. Funny part about it, the SI would not give me an even break. I would cruise at 60, and he would come up from behind me, not slowing down. Shoot, make me catch his @ss. Anyway, i'm doing 60, and passes me about 80 - I had the maxi in 3rd, caught up to him at about 95, then hit 4th gear - That's when I left him, and that when I found out that I have a F@@@@@ governer on the car that won't allow me to go past 115.

All the smack talking doesn't amount to much by either side. Some Honda civis Si's do go into the 14's but are NOT stock. You guys wanna see what happens to a Honda Civic Si w/turbo kit vs. a modded Max? Go see the video in this thread.
