Emergency brake cable

Emergency brake cable
Anybody go through emergency brake cables for the rear brakes? Since I owned my car, I went through about three of them because of those stupid tire centers lifting up the car, bending and splitting the cable causing it to seize when moisture and dirt get inside. I heard this was an occurring problem for us Maxima owners. The cable runs too close to the edge of the frame. It seems that you have too bend the bracket outwards so that it doesn't rub against the frame of the car when its being used. If you don't keep an eye on it, it may be too late. The cable may be split somewhere where the dirt and moisture settles in. This s*cks! Anybody else experience this problem?

Yes, I had this problem about two months ago on a 1996 Infiniti I30. The passenger rear caliper was seized and would not allow the tire to rotate. I loosened the e-brake cable off the caliper and found that the cable itself was seized. The cable had made its way in between the frame / body mount and had crimped the metal outer section onto the cable itself. The casing was split and some moisture had made its way into the inner workings of the cable. It took me close to an hour to replace the cable, although the Chilton manual only showed a few steps. I had to remove all the heat shield for the exhaust to access the mounting brackets for the cable. It was tough work being that it was about 20 degrees and I was doing the work in a cold garage. My parts shop friend says it does happen, but not too often, so I don't know if this is a massive problem with the Max or not.
