Help! with jacking / floorstand points
Help! with jacking / floorstand points
Doing a strut/spring replacement this weekend..
I've got two large floor jacks and 2 jackstands...
I'll be lifting one end at a time.
Where do I jack/support the front end and jack/support the rear? 4th gen of course...
Thanks!

For the front, I use the motor mount bracket that runs down the middle of the car from the radiator to the bottom of the firewall. There is a protrusion that is a natural fit for a jack.
On the rear, I place the jack in the middle of the beam axle. You get a little flex in the axle, but it will do no damage.

Anywhere else in the rear?
Thanks

Also, after you've got the car resting on the stands, remove the jack from the rear beam. You want that thing hanging by itself when you do the swap.

I came across this problem too when I was installing my supercharger. Until then, I had only used the stock jack at the stock points (where the 'notchies' are). But now I was using two - 2-ton jacks. The little bowls on the jacks would bend the 'notchies' had I placed them there. So what I did was place them exactly at the notchies but on the other side of the wall (towards the inside of the car). Does that make sense? Hope I helped. Good luck.
When i did the rear, i found it easier to lift one side at a time. I lifted it at the beam and then put the jack stand slightly towards the front of the car - where there are rail looking things under the body.
