Max stalling for no apparent reason....help?

Here's the lowdown

95 Max
102k miles
Auto

Lately I've been getting a stalling problem from my max....it does not seem to occur at any other time then when I'm waiting at a light or stopped with the car in drive. it just flat out dies, no real sputtering or anything. had sparks, pcv, fuel filter changed last year, and change oil regularly (3k). It's not bad fuel, as I've gone through 2 or 3 different tanks of gas from different places since this started. once i put car in park and try to restart, it basically starts right back up and off I go. Today however, when it happened I started back up, threw it into drive and it almost died again, but it seemed to catch and it was fine all the way to work. Anyone have any ideas?? tranny has been shifting kinda weird lately, but I don't see how that would affect it.....but then again I really don't know if it would or not, so I'm asking you guys. The help is appreciated! Thanks!

1. Get the battery checked for free at Pep Boys (you'll have to take it out and put it back in), to see how good it is.

2. Could be a dirty Throttle Body.

3. Check what Nismo98 & Rooster286 suggested.

I had this problem about a year ago. I have a 5 speed and every time I would get to a red light or just be on nutral, my car would start choking and just die, so I had to restart it. My buddy hooked it up to a scanner and told me right away it's a MAF. After that I went to Nissan Dealer and he told me same ****. That little fu*king thing is expansive as f*ck, I think around $ 400. After I found that out, I bought the extanded warranty right away.

I had the same problem and it was my IAC valve. might try to remove it and clean it or possibly replace it.

I know on fuel injected Toyotas there is a phenomenon where you begin to lose power, then the car stalls. This happens gradually over time. The problem is the TPS (throttle position sensor). I would check that as well. Easy to do with a multimeter.

Rooster286, did you change your intake or do you have your stock one.

I got the Chilton's at O'reilly and the Haynes at Autozone. it looks like only 3rd gen, but its both third and fourth gen. something like 1993-1998 maximas.

Did you ever figure this out?
I had similar problems and it turned out to be loose ground wires
that connect to the knock sensor -- the bolts are near the fuel rail
toward the "front" of the engine...if you search for my thread entitled "did I finally fix my car", there's an image to point them
out.

best,

From time to time The Nissan Factory Service Manual is available on EBay, one copy went for $31.50 and the last one for $71.00, I paid $119.00 for mine when I ordered it from Nissan. I believe it is far superior to Haynes which I also own.
