Semi-stupid question...

I've searched and read, but have only got ambiguous if any answers on the 5th --> 4th gen swap. I've seen some DEK's available for cheap, so if I could get a whole engine+ECU+harness+tranny(if necessary) and do a straight swap I'd be a happy kid. I searched to find out about the 5th gen intake, which I found out is the only diff. btw the 4th and 5th gen engines besides milder cams. If this is so, why are people getting intakes shipped from New Zealand?

Sorry to ask such a newbie type question...help from Danny, Cheston, Uncle Max or anyone else knowledgeable+helpful would be super-appreciated. Thanks.

The major difference between 5th and 4th is the variable intake, right? so suggest wait until the variable intake from new zealand being dyno and you decide you want a very complicated engine swap or the intake.

Wait...if that's the only diff., then why can't I just swap intake manifolds?

Search for "ME variable intake" or "variable intake" & you'll find everything that everyone knows about this so far. A few members already have it installed on their 4th Gens. and are in the process of fine-tuning them.

There has been much reasearch on this. The conclusion was that a 5th gen manifold wont just bolt on to our cars. However, the ME/VI will bolt right on. Add to that the fact that the ME/VI probably costs less than a complete DEK intake setup.

The ME/VI seems to be the simpler and cheaper solution at this point.
