Okay so i have an auto, i know i know, not the best choice but somfin the wifey can drive. So here it is, how much performance do i loose with an auto if i ever wanted to toast a civic(si,vtec). A friend has the civic and keeps taunting me....he has more to win than i do. Any input would be most helpful! Don't have any engine mods and i believe he doesn't either. Thanks for your tips

i have an auto 96 gxe and personally am not really worried about any civic. Except maybe a turbo si but thats an exception. Now when i toasted a contour svt i decided that the maxi's only 4 cylinder honda contender might be the prelude and the s2000 ofcourse and the race with the prelude might be close. Dont be too worried about a civic, if he wants to test the maxi then show him bad his four cylinder can look.

Why not just add some performance mods and totally kick his ***? You could always get the VB mod for the auto tranny and then it would if it was auto.
If you do race, try turning off the overdrive (little button on the shift stick) it might help a little, and close all your windows.

Hmm..if you had a stock 98 auto, you might beat the Civic. But your giant 18" rims will slow down your car by like half a second or so in the 1/4 mile, so your car might be as fast anymore.
