Yes, OBD-II was implemented for the 1995 model year, but it wasn't mandated until the 1996 model year.

Ok. I'll race ya with my 88k mile 95 SE I'll even give you a head start.

LMAO, as im reading this whole thread, i was thinking the same thing the whole time. The *** on the 95-96's are just to FAT lol. Thats why I like my 98's nice Tight ***, it gives it that more "Sporty" look.

Yeah who cares about this minimal speed difference? The 97+ rear is so much better IMO. I like the way Maxima emblem is together instead of all spread out and the way the tail lights are set up is a lot more sharp looking than the fatness of the 95-96. Just my opinion though

I agree on the ugliness of the '95-'96 tails, and the '97-'99's aren't much better. Anybody ever consider shaving the portion of the taillights on the decklid? How do you think it would look?

Well it isn't weight

I just went to Edmunds.com and they seem to have reported a whoping 9 lbs difference between cars. So lets go back to the drawing board after scratching the weight issue.

I wouldn't speak so soon, I have a 96 se 5spd with mods, I raced a 97 se Auto that was stock, I thought that my car would be able to beat it even if I gave it a head start and i couldn't catch up, I only gave it like a half a car length. I think that It was my Venom 400 that was causing the problem.

The fact of the matter is that there can't be any generalistic comment made about which model is faster between the 95-96 and 97-99.
