can i put 225/45/18 on my max or bigger?
Most people run 235/40/18, myself included. If you're looking to decrese the gap shocks/springs are the way to go. You want the overall diameter of the wheel/tire to stay the same so your speedo isn't off.

unless you are willing to risk the speedo being off and putting undrivin miles on your car, you want to deal with the gap by getting springs and not fiddling with the tire size
