Tranny Slipping?

I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE - Auto - with about 95k miles on the tranny. I just bought the car a few months ago, and believe it still has original tranny. The thing is, sometimes it takes 1.5-2 seconds to go from Idling until it finally starts going. It gets gas and the tachometer goes up, but it doesn start moving right away. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I am thinking about scheduling an appointment at my Nissan dealer because I have a 2 year tranny warranty that still has a year and a half left on it.

If you have a warranty, by all means go back and have them check it out. Let me make sure I understood; You are saying you hit the gas to take off from standstill and the rpm's rise and the car stays still momentarily before moving at all? If so, it sounds like a torque converter problem (possibly).

is it me or are there a lot of maxima autos with TRANNY problems..

My best friend drives a 96 Max SE and when he costs at 75km/h *no foot on gas) the tach goes down to regular 1000 RPM idles!! What gives..

My moms 99 SE does the same but not as bad..

What i noticed on my moms 99 SE auto (cdn with VLSD), the tranny shift quality is somewhat close to the crappy shift quality of crappy low end autos.

During traffic, the car shifts with harshness and the car feels like its always slipping in gears. I drove my friends 96 SE and its the same crappy feel.

How do you auto max drivers drive these cars?? I thought my gf's 96 honda civic SI auto was bad but both maxima's i have driven now are HORRIBLE!!

I have never seen any car that i have driven auto (I have driven 100's of cars) shift as bad as these cars in part throttle. I mean at full throttle, the shifts are much more smoother and less engagement shock.

Please respond as teh 99 is still under Nissans 6 year 160000 comprehensive warranty..

Other than that the 130 000 kms on this maxima as made me believe that there are cars out there that are very reliable!!! Its even better reliabilty than my dads 2000 Benz e320 4matic.. BENZS SUCK ***.
