NE1 revmoved trunk lock?
I painted my trunk lock to match the body color.
Looked good for a while, but it's chipping now.
I need to sand it and prime it first.
Anyone ever taken the trunk lock off?
How hard/complicated is it?
TIAi

duuh-wack-your-own-forehead-with-your-hand thing.
I mean, I should know better.
But I just did a search
and all the returns I got are about shaving, or it popping open unexpectedly or break-ins or lost keys...
OK, so first I'll have to remove the trunk liner.
I figure that will be simple.
Then I think the part of the lock inside the trunk will be threaded and have some kind of retaining nut.
I'm just wondering how complicated the electronic-automatic-keyless-stuff makes it...
how does the servo connect and is it easy to remove and reattach?
anyone?

my trunk lock was shaved when I had my body kit painted and put on. Email me at nymjayjay@aol.com and I will send you pics, there is one on my homepage but its not that good of a pic. I am not really sure how much it cost to shave the hole cause it was included in the price when they did the kit.

Teraspeed -
nah, no butt - you were right, I shoulda searched first.
But when I did, I couldn't find the answer I'm after.
And thanks, but the searches you did don't answer my q either.
I'd like to shave and fill the keyhole but
1] I'm just too paranoid the solenoid will fail
and I won't be able to get into the trunk
- and it will probably happen when I get a flat.
and
2] If I had any money to spend at all
it would be on window tinting, then KYB shocks...
And so thanks anway nymjayjay.
I guess I'll just remove the liner and take a look.
That should be easy enough.
That is if it ever stops raining...

To answer your questions as asked: How hard is it to take the lock off?. Well, that's easy. The question you should of asked was how expensive is it to fill in the hole and repaint the entire trunk once you (easily) remove the lock? That's another story. Not cheap.

He doesn't want to shave it.
If I have time I'll look, but I've done it on a civic... self explanatory.

Romoving key hole latch system trunk
i took off my lock before, its kinda a b**** when u have to figure it out on your own. Anyway to remove you need to also reomve teh latch mechanism on the trunk lid. Take off the carpet first obviously adn the plastic cover covering the latch. Reomve to two 10mm hex bolts and then the third one which is in the center of the latch system. Look behind there should be a thin rod of which you have to unhook from the latch(where the latch meets the yellow plastic) You want to remove the rod from the yellow, NOT THE YELLOW FROM THE LATCH, you might need some pliers. If all is well you should have removed the rod(which has an "L" shape to the end of it) and now that part is free. This is the hardest part of the whole thing.
Next you want to look behind the actuall keyhole area. When u loo back there, there should be a 2 prong fork looking thing which is keeping the keyhole in place. You should be able to move it about 40 degrees in up or down. This is what u need to remove to get you key mechanism free. Basically all u need to do it lift the prongs near the tips and pull(im sure you'll figure it out). U need to apply some force to get it out tho, is doesnt just slide off. Once that is free you can take the entire thing out with the rod and sand, paint whatever you want to do.
When ur done it is most likly that u bent the prong in which case u might have to bend it a little bit to make the key mechanism sit tight again. Once that part is in slip the "L" part back on and the rest of the screws and you all set. Hope this helped
