trunk problem fixed!!!
trunk problem fixed!!!
For the last few months I haven't been able to open my trunk from inside the car. Last night at work (I'm an EMT, so I tend to have some down time) I finally had a chance to see what's wrong. My initial assumption was that it had something to do with the cable, but after a lot of fumbling and screwing up (at one point the trunk didn't open at all, I had to stick my head, 1 hand, and a crow bar in through the arm rest to hit the release) I finally noticed that the plate that holds on the release assembly was bent. When I straightened it out, the whole assembly became a lot looser, and the spring would return it to a proper position. From that point on, the trunk would open from the inside. The only problem now is that the gas door opens whenever I open the trunk, which is due to my screwing with the cable. Oh well, at least others can learn from my mistake
