My 88 V6 Camry lasted 250,000 miles and was still running strong before I got rid of it. It would have been a fine car still if I hadn't put it into a concrete wall at about 30 MPH. . . Engine still ran perfectly, only problem was the rest of the cars electrics were screwed after the first rain flooded the interior. I would have no doubt of it going on much furthur, but I wanted something else. . . The Maxima was more fun, but I have already had to do more to my car in one year than I had to do to the Camry in 3. I must say though that the stuff I had to do to my Max is general maintainence though, and some things couldn't be avoided due to poor replacement in the first place.

OK
Maybe you guys don't know much about superchargers, but if this Camry had a stock exhaust like he says it did there is no way he was SC'd unless he is a complete idiot. SC+restricted air flow=blown head gaskets. You just have to face the fact that the Max is not the fastest car in the world.

Maybe in his eyes it looked stock..hehe not everyone puts 5 inch wide tips on their cars when they do the exhaust. You gotta watch out for those sleeper exhausts like the one TRD makes. It looks very much like the stock one.

Hey was i marked a "lurker" because im a camry owner or because i havent posted enough messages to be anything more? Like in the supra forums they got "miata owner" until you hit over 30 posts.

You are a lurker until you hit 25 posts. . . Then you become a Newbie. . . We have no idea what anything else is anymore as it was just recently changed and we are still trying to figure it out. I think 100 is Maxima Fanatic, 150 or 200 Maxima Enthusiest, 300 Maximaniac, 750 Maxima Obsessed, 1000 Maxaholic, ? Maxima Brainwashed. These are still skeptical though as some people have names that don't corrspond to their post totals.

Re: OK
Maybe you don't know much about superchargers, or head gaskets. An sc can be pulleyed to increase boost by 0 psi, if that's what someone wanted; how much extra pressure/heat will that create in the cylinder? Conversely, one can pack a cylinder with enough fuel/air to blow any gasket to smithereens, regardless of what sort of exhaust system one has (open headers, whatever).
Toyota tested it's sc out very thoroughly. It delivers a modest amount of boost, which the exhaust system and gaskets can easily handle. A similar setup for Toyota trucks has been proven reliable (and warranty-able) for several years.

My best time NA was 14.8 @ 93. So far, I've managed to pull off a 14.6 @ 96, but that was with a slipping clutch. I haven't run with the ACT clutch in, yet.

glok-
That is an impressive time for a close to stock Camry. I wish I could pull 2.1 60 foots. I'm stuck with in the 2.4 range with my 14.9s. Are you running drag tires or is your track just extremely sticky?
Tsong-
Same deal. Are you on drag tires or is your track super sticky? Hmmm...my best mph has been a 96.5mph, but that was on a 15.0 run with a 2.5 60 foot.
