Just blew a 97-2000 hooked Camry
AHHH just got home at about 12:00 am and i feel good cuz i just smoked a camry on the highway and then on the street. I met him going onto rte. 95 i cruised with him for about 3 seconds and then i saw him stare and right then we both floored it. It took about 3 seconds for me to smoke em and leave him behind(thank god for maxima auto trannies late shift into 3rd.)from there on it was in and out of traffic and it became a matter of driving not a faster car. so he went out of his way and got out on my exit. we both got caught at a red light so it was time for some dragging. Camrys suck *** cuz this dude had a stick and he couldnt handle my auto. so he speed off first but it only took about 50 mph to gun by him. so i put on my flashing hazard lights put my hand out the window and waved goodbye as i speed away and i let him know he can't handle the ol'Max. specs: greddy exhaust-stillen intake-stock 5spokes on Yoko's Camry might of had some sort of catback and i'm pretty sure i heard and intake roar and it had some 17 or 18 inch racers.

was it a black camry with fogs? i know that's soo common but i know a guy who actually worked at the dealership i bought my max from who had a decent looking camry like that. he had other stuff done but you prolly didn't see at night. i'm pretty sure he lives around the area you're from and were driving so...anything unique about the car besides wheels?
nice kill btw...

I forgot to mention that next to where it sayed Camry XLE it also said V6 so yeah it was kinda fair plus if he was runnin a 4 banger he shouldna tested me so either way it's fair.
Good reasoning- but yeah, if he wants to try then you gotta show him he's making a mistake

Yea, and there's always the chance someone did a 5-speed swap or something drastic like that...but that kind of spirit isn't usually seen in people that drive Camrys.
From what I know, style-wise and quality-wise, it seems the 5-speed V6 LE coupe camry from that generation was a pretty nice car, albeit pretty darn rare (I think they made somewhere around ~5,000 of them?)
Would be a cool kinda-rare "drivers car" to own, like an all-trac celica or a third-gen RX-7 (heh...but then again, around here, even MY car, being a 4th-gen SE 5-speed with all factory options, is one of those 'kinda-rare' cars).

You could get a Camry CE V6 5spd. I test drove one before I got the Max in 1998.
Pretty damn quick. Roasted up 2nd pretty good on the test drive before the saleswoman yelled at me... hehe.. But the rubbery shifter and super floaty suspension really didn't encourage you to go fast...
Car and Driver also tested one.
