A/C compressor???

Is there a fuse or relay for the A/C compressor??? My compressor won't come on by itself but if you conect it directly to the battery it works, so I know the compressor itself is still good. Anyone had this problem??? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance!!! My cover for the fuse panel was missing when I bought the car and I haven't replaced it yet so I don't know what fuse is what that's why I asked.

Does your A/C blow cold when you jump your compressor?
If it doesn't then the reason your compressor isn't running is because the system needs R134 refrigerent. If it's to low, it will not run.

I don't know. My father in law was going to charge it for me but said he couldn't get the compressor to come on and therefore couldn't add the refrigerent. Can you add the refrigerent without the compressor being on???

Re: A/C compressor???

I just checked mine. In the fusebox, the fuse number 16, a 7.5 amp fuse. It's in the middle column of fuses, the 3rd 7.5 amp fuse as you go up. You have to look carefully at the fusebox to see the numbers, but they're there.

If your system is too low on refrigerent it will not run. As soon as you start to add refrigerent to the system, the safty switch will see the pressure increase and your compressor will start to run.
