i was going to do that starter noise fix(http://www.motorvate.ca/) .. i took most of it apart and when in the house to look at the comupter, so i pluged the battery back on and went it side. i came outside and hear a weird noise , i quiclky unpluged the battery and then smell something funnny. so now i want to put my car back together but dont remember where the wire that comes from the battery to the starter what bolt it goes on. i want to see if the starter is fried. if so can i put a 99-95 starter on a 95? PLEASE someone help me? thanks in the adavance. you can e-mail me or post it. gotrize168@aol.com
Unplug the battery first. Then take the starter out and re-grease it. Put the thing back together. Put it back in the car. Then hook up the battery again.
When I did mine, I did not disconnect the battery and the starter cranked on me because the wrench touched the other nut with the wire. I’m thinking these two wires must have made some kind of contact with some metal surface.

Here is a pic that shows the connection to the starter:

The connection from the battery to the starter is the black wrapped cable with the brown (dirty) cover halfway on.
Yes, any 95-99 starter should fit fine in a 95.
Whatever you do, never mess with your starter with the battery connected.
P.S. My engine normally isn't that dirty, I swear! That pic was taken right after I repaired some fire damage and I hadn't cleaned up the smoke and nastiness yet.
