AC Compressor Replacement? Can I do it?
Yes i have searched.
Here is the deal. I went to the shop today, I just went to get my system recharged so my AC would get colder. They did that, but then they told me that there is an internal failure in the compressor, even though is works sorta. It is not cutting on and off, just not making the air as cold as it could be. Something about a swash plate or something like that?
So, first of all, is this BS? I am not getting any ECU codes or anything and the air is colder now that it is recharged, but not as cold as i remember it being.
Second, from the posts i have searched for, it sounds like the compressor is not hard to replace, but you have to flush the system. Since mine has already been flushed, can i just buy and install the compressor myself? Is there any tutorial online about how to do this?
The shop wanted about $600 for parts and labor to replace the compressor. How much can i get a compressor for online? Where?
What do you guys think of all this?
Thanks in advance

it is very easy to take out and put in. just line up the bolts (long ones) to the bracket and block and tighten them up. you do this from below, like if you were changing your oil filter, but you need to jack up the front of the car.

Im getting mine done for $125 but I have to supply the compressor..Mine is cool but not as cold as it should..my macanic explianed me that the compressor is like an engine with a crankshaft and everything/...all mine is doing is spinning and not making the air cold..the line that goes into the firewall is not even cold after running it for a while...but the compressor from a junkyard and a new air DRYER from nissan...supposdly when you open those things up they go bad because of moisture

yeah, I thought you knew already. you need to relieve the system. what the shop is telling you is not BS, I forgot to mention. I skipped the last and most important part:
check out my site, $150 from me.
