Ther are certain lights that should come on before starting your car. I DO NOT know what they are, but you might want to research that.

Might be you alternator...

but could be your starter

Have you tried jumping it from another car?

Does it help?

Just my 2 cents

bro, the exact same thing happened to me exactly two weeks ago, your alternator is dead, it is only a matter of days when you car will break down in the middle of traffic. please get it replaced ASAP! It happened to me and its not exactly the most pleasant thing that has ever happened. It can also get very dangerous. (unfortunately after i spent 400 replacing it, my car died a week later- accident )

Yup most likely your alternator. If somehow that doesn't turn up to be broken, check ure fuses... but then again that wouldnt cause dimming and all.

Re: that's weird

if the brake light is on, you may want to check the reservoir. if this is low, the brake light will come on unitl you fill it or replace your pads.

Well for now, check to see if ure alternator is working...

get a ammeter to check the voltage on the battery. Turn ure car on then check the voltage... it should read 12.6-ish or higher volts... well anything over 12 volts. then take the ammeter's leads off the battery and keep the car revved at a constant 2-3k-ish RPM... then connect the ammeter again. If your alternator is working it should read around 18 volts... or anything higher than 13-15 volts. good luck!

if you don't have the fluke meter...just go to autozone or pep boys and they will test your charging system.

How Lucky! I can tell you what the problem is. The alternater. I had that same problem this weekend i changed battries and everything. I took to a shop(Yesterday) and they replaced the alternater. I had it back yesterday afternoon and $320. The guy even told me what lights were on with out me even telling him what lights were on, said he fixed the same problem on a max last week. I also went to series yeatersay after i got my car back and put a DieHArd Gold(top of the line) battery. and my lights do not dim when my system hits.

A new alternator is more than $400.
A heavy duty would help, but is not going to prevent from this happening to you again. You can just get a cap. to take some load off.
Never had a system on my car other than stock Bose.

check my site for my alternator.
It would plug right in.

I had the exact same problems 2 months ago.I worked on it for 2 to 3 days and took it to 3 mechanics.. nobody knew what it was.Got a new battery too. Finally i took it to the nissan dealer at $65 an hour it took them 10 hrs to rectify.I think it must be some sort of short circuit.Mine was a short ckt below the battery, cost me $780.I think they knew what the problem was but just wanted to make money as they always do.
Take it to a good mechanic specialising in auto electrical of IMPORT cars.We don't have any in my area.
Good luc and hope its not that expensive for you.
