i have to shut him up!!!

ok, i have this friend who just bought an eclipse GS-T with a blow off valve, and its a 5 speed. He says that he runs low 13's which is obviously b*llsh** but he wont shut up about his car. he keeps saying how he beats wrx's and a trans am last night, its absolutely rediculous!!! and i just want to kick his a** in a race so bad. i already raced him and i killed him off the line but he ended up beating me by like 1- 1 1/2 car lenghts anyway i want to beat him but im an automatic 96'. when i raced him i didnt have my CAI in yet but i dont think it will give me enough. what will i need other than nos or supercharger to beat him, or is it possible for me ot beat him?? he is 95 GS-T with a blowoff and that is it.

thanks

Well the blowoff valve won't do anything for performance for him...it actually conserves the life of the turbo so the turbines don't warp inside.

As for you beating him...you mentioned you have a CAI. Any other mods you have might help but I would get the ECU upgrade from JWT. I am almost positive you could take him with that and the other mods you have. Good luck man and sounds like your buddy needs an a$$ woopin'.

put that CAI in and get a y pipe and you should be able to take him.

Hmm, those things are pretty quick for an eclipse, I think you would need some good mods to hang with him. Stock I think they run low 15s, correct me if I'm wrong someone. I don't think he runs low 13's, thats probably BS, but I knew a kid with one, and a few mods and he ran low 14s on 18 inch rims and with his subs in his trunk so I dunno. Race him and find out. I think you might get worked though if he can drive his car.

Well I don't know, I think those mods will get you into the low to mid 15's range and if in fact a GS-T is already there stock, and 5 speed, I'm not sure. Ultimately it comes down to driving so if your friend is a halfway decent driver, I would say he's got ya. This is just my opinion though.

hm....its worth a shot- just give it a go, but yea it would suck to lose. i say get the Y-pipe b4 the other listed mods....(unless you already have those mods) ...

Definately get a b-pipe.. once you get the y-pipe, the b-pipe is the next most restrictive part of your exhaust. I'f you're on a budget, go with the intake, y-pipe and b-pipe (or you can go for the whole catback). That'll make your car significanly faster.

did you get a good launch in the first race??? If he beat you by only a car length and a half, I think he ain't that good of a driver. Maybe he'll meet up with one of a modded 5-speeds

If you only lost by a carlength the first time...and just the intake and y-pipe and you should sneak ahead of him no problem.

a little off topic, but those cars have much potential. i have a buddy that put about $1,000-$1,500 into his and got into the 12's... and then he bought an upgraded turbo and intercooler, carbon fiber driveshafts, and other drivetrain mods... with about 27psi, he runs in the high 9's. but its a 95 GSX; all wheel drive launches a sick with 400-500 hp. he was issued in an import mag..., i'll try to find it and get the exact #'s.
