fog lights on a 96 GLE? How hard to do?
#1
I have a 96 GLE. I have the stupid looking flower mag wheels and the front end with no fog lights. I totally love the SE wheels and the fog lights on the front end. I am planning on changing both of these things but I am wondering how hard it is (if possible) to change the front end of my car to have the fog lights. I have thought about just going to a junk yard and ditching my front end and replacing it. What do you guys think? And if there is anyone out there that would like $300 and my rims and tires for a trade on your five star wheels and tires please let me know. I would really appreciate a response (especially about the rims). Thanks fellas

Jaxima: Please check out this link. . .
For the fog lights or installing them on your 96 GLE:

Also, 1) try using the search engine on topics that you're interested in, and you'll find what you need, and if not, then 2) try a new post.
I, too, had the GLE, and those 95-96 GLE definitely have those funky-ugly flower wheels on them. I bought my SE rims on the net for $400 shipped and that included balanced tires that were in top-notch shape. I felt the wider SE tires and rims have better handling than the GLE tires/rim combo. Look around and you shall find, sometimes deals pop up on the for sale/wanted sections of this forum as well. Or you could just put a WTB post, and someone may want to sell them to you.
Have a nice day.

1995 GLE rim width
Kenneth, you're correct, my bad, about the GLE rim widths. According to the owner's manual, the 95-96 GLE rims had the exact specs as the 95-96 SE rims (with different syles of course):
15" diameter x 6.5" width with 1.77" (45 mm) offsets.
You can definitely put on the wider 215 or even 225's on the rims, but jumping from 205 to 215 will give you noticeably good improvement.

this is what you do.. order the nissan foglight kit from courtesy nissan ($190)..all the max's are pre-wired and pre-drilled for the fogs. courtesy will even send you a template to cut out your bumper so you can't mess up. it took me about 40 mins to do. don't bring it to your dealership because you will be able to do a much better job. as for the se wheels the ones you see on e-bay are replica wheels, they look very close to the factory wheel.

Not all Maximas are pre-wired for the fog light kit
From the 95-96 fog light kit, it appears that not all Maximas are pre-wired for it. All GLEs, all SEs (of course), and only the GXE's w/ the Comfort and Convenience package can take the fog lights. However, if your 95-96 GXE does not have the C&C package, you may be out of luck. The 97-99 GXE's are the same as well, I believe. If someone HAS actually installed OEM fog lights on their GXE w/o the C&C package, please correct me.
