question about bad gas mileage

just changed the knock sensor today, and havent seen a huge improvement in gas mileage yet, but it was only the first day, so im going to give it another few days before i do anything, but i just want to look into my options.....first off, ive been getting bad gas mileage ever since the upper intake was installed.....is there any way that i can check if there is an air leak somehow in there....i was thinking it over, and if the MAF is getting an amount of air, and some air is leaking out thru the upper piece, causing the car to run rich....does that make sense?? i dunno....anyone have any suggestions as to why im running at 10 mpg ???

edit: also, would it make a difference if i drilled a whole for the sensor that is in the stock air scoop?

I got this problem too. Let's say my tank is a bit more than 3/4 full, by thw time I get 80 miles on the odometer I'm almost at the 1/4 mark, what the **** it ****es me off. I only use 93 and 100(put that in the day I got the car)octane by the way...
