Well,
I dont think i am going to do my rims till my current tires wear down. But i want to get a head start.
I cant do such a big wheel that requires a very low profile tire (as much as i would like to
). I need tires that have very good performance, but will not make me slide around on the hill by my house in winter (1/4 mile long, 20-30deg inclination, it is VERY steep and has a LOT of traffic on it, people with bad tires DO slide backwards when totally stopped sometimes). They dont have to be GREAT in the snow and ice, but just enough to feel pretty confident in that kind of weather.
So i guess the tire will dictate the wheel size (thats all i really need, you can recommend wheels, but i have no prob looking for those, just for picking out the tires). I would like at least 16" wheels though.
Thanks!
btw, i searched a lot but could not find a satisfactory answer to this particular issue with buying both wheels and tires for this purpose.

Ultra performance all season is your best bet.
I used them to pick out my Yokohama avs db. They hydrofoil(?) a bit but other than that great traction.

ok, so i know i have seen a list of the desired tire sizes for given wheel sizes that fit the 4th gen, can someone link me?
what about 17" tire sizes, are 17" wheels a good compromise b\w weight and handling? or is 16" a better size? i am not a die hard drag racer, nor do i not care about handling and looks...

I have Yokahama Avid H4V4's and they are an all season tire. I have driven in the rain and snow w/them and have not had any problems. I have them in 235/45R17...

Dunlop SP Sport A2 is the best value for the $$$.
Great treadware/traction/temerature ratings. Great in the wet. Not too bad in the snow.
And they cost about 75% of the price of the AvidH4

the Dunlop SP Sport A2 and and Yokohama Avid H4V4's fit 17/7.5 wheels?
what about the Dunlop 8000 or 9000?
