600+HP Maxima ... is it possible?

Hi

I am probably gonna be flamed or laughed at for this, but I thought I'd ask the question anyway. Do you think it's possible to get a 600+ HP maxima? I am sure that there are going to be many things that need to be beefed up in the process (tranny, drive shafts etc). I am wondering what the limit is on with a built engine. What do you think?

I am wondering if I should sink money into finding out or buying a musclecar like a Supra (or even a Skyline) and working from there.

The question is do you want a 600hp front wheel drive car? I can't keep the front end from pulling side to side on my stock 190hp Maxima. Seems like a waste of power to this cowboy.

yee haa...

Sure its possible. You are 2/3 of the way there right now on stock everything. Build your engine, build your fuel system, shove another 15lbs of boost in there, and viola' you have a 600hp maxima.

Actually there are quite a few 600 hp hondas and FWD DSMs and some very very powerful sentras and such too... 600 in the maxima should be no problem. You'll need the $$$ to support it though.

it is very possible, but costs a lot of money, but the from what i see you are willing to put a lot of cash in your maxima (im referrring to the turbo) so i say go for it, it would be quite awesome!!! plus your putting the money into a maxima, how much better of an investment can u get

I've seen 600hp eclipse, so why not maxima. this eclipse was turboed, and used nitrous to spool the turbo. It'd easily take the corvettes.

Ohhhh yesss 600hp!

Think about it its very possible man.If a 300 zx with a vg30 can easily pull off 600 horses then a vQ30 following the same principles as the 300zx should easily put out that power, but in reality $$$ is the issue here.I rather have a 700 hp maxima than a 1200 skyline, but the skyline is still GONNA BE OUR DADDYS!

"Beefed up"..... Ya.. just a bit.

The main problem is that after you custom built your transaxle and engine, $30,000+ and countless headaches later you'd still have a front wheel drive four-door sedan. Plus you'd have removed any driveability and reliability.

Anything is possible with enough $$$$, it just doesn't make any sense for the Max...

- Yeah, theoretically, wouldn't you be getting completely new electronics? You wouldn't need the stock MAF. Switch to a MAP system, or something.
- Ummm, I do think that you'll need a bit more than 15 pounds of boost, though.
- While you're at it, get rid of about 1,000 pounds worth of weight, switch it to RWD, and then call me. I'd be more than happy to test-drive the car!

possibly with a lot of $ into the drivetrain...the motor will need forged pistons and all the goodies, but it will hold up better than the rest....... Also FWD is difficult....

I dont get it, why did you even bother to put money into you maxima...if all you want is somthing els like a Skyline? Seems like a waste to me...I say if your going to start somthing finish it... you have a maxima with Turbo...and like no bolt ones.... well get the bolt ons, beef your motor... and stay with the maxima...who cares if its FWD...there are othere types of racing besides drag....

just my 2 cents

I think it's possible it's all about the cash flow. People yea but it FWD.. so are civics. Now will it be street drivable? probably not.
but you'd get a lot of head turning at the track. that's why I wanted to start with Engine Management to make sure tuning didn't hold me back. Just the motor and tranny
I'll be happy with 450 to the wheels
Just got a 92 S13 last Friday.. Next years project after Uncle Max gets done. I'm going all out on that bad boy but this time using Speedpro or Motec.
Uh I speak from experience guys avoid Haltech untill I find all the bugs. It's an outdated system in comparison to others.

If you do that the tranny would be the first thing you should do.. Like get a Level 10 tranny it can handle up to 600+HP it will cost you around $4500 but if you wanna do that like I am...

i did some research and discovered that you can actually drop a skyline gt-r 34 engine straight in to a nissan maxima and it will fit fine! the only problen is the labor costs!
