oil leak that wont quit>>>
it seem to be coming from the rear main seal or rear of the upper oil pan. i have already replaced the rear main seal (twice) and re-siliconed the upper oil pan to engine block 2 times. i have also replaced the 2 crecsent shaped gaskets for the upper oil pan to engine block.

my car had a rear main seal leak; it should be covered under warrantee if you still have one. If not, ugh, you have to remove the oil pan and drop the tranny to replace.
if you can get in there and clean most of the oil up, then check in a day, to see where the oil is actually from, then you can be more sure. If it's just the oil pan, that's not so bad.

I had my rear seal replaced when I had my ACT clutch installed at the dealer. I took it back 3 times before they finally got it to quit leaking. Good luck. I can't offer any advice - I had someone else do mine. Now my tranny leaks. There's always something.

Not sure about that but my FSM clearly states that all that needs to be removed to properly replace the rear seal. The first time the dealer attempted to replace mine; they tried to do it w/o removing the oil pan - didn't work. 2nd time they removed the pan and it still didn't work. The third time was just right, Goldilocks hehe A different tech also performed the work.
I figure the shaft in the engine develops a little bit of a wobble over time that is hard to seal with a nice, new, even circle - since the original seal got to break in while the wobble was developing

$600 for motor. i bought it complete with a tranny for $1000. the tranny is on my car alredy, the old blew its seals then bearings. if i get this oil leak fixed i will sell it if not then it goes into my car whole or maybe just the oil pan. to be honest if my car stops leaking i might do the "impossible" and try to swap it into my 3rd gen. the motor came with the ecu harness so all i need is the ecu itself.
any way thanks a lot for the info. that detail about removing the tranny and oil pan to properly install the rear main seal is not included in the chilton or haynes manuals.

Mine just started leaking too!! I think it is also coming from the back of the oil pan because I dont see any oil leaking from the oil filter or drain plug. I hope when i take my car in for the alternator recall, they will take car of it also under warranty.
