RPM Fluctuating
Today as I was checking my car I found out that between 1k and 2k rpms it moves up and down at a steady pace but only in park or neutral.I have a SEL code P0420 would this cause the rpms to go up and down or is it something else?

Sounds like a MAF problem. If you have a 2000 to 2001 this is usually the case. 02 and 03 it's also possible. If you know anyone with a Max of the same year ask to test your car with their MAF...if the RPMs are steady with theirs then that is your answer.

OH and!
Check your air filter first to see if that is the culprit sometimes the simplest thing is overlooked.
EDIT: Just read what the code means it can be a few things...Most to do with the air fuel ratio. Also hope you are running premium...low grade fuels will also trigger a SEL.
