Engine mount symptoms
Engine mount symptoms
Hey all,
The rough idle on my 2k2 is driving me nuts. The first time I took it in to the dealer, the changed the coils. The last time I took it to the dealer, they said it was "operating within normal parameters". Yeah right! My 2000 SE doesn't idle like that. Other than that the car runs great.
Anyhow, I'm trying to think of some possible causes so I can tell the dealer what to look at. Do we not have active damping engine mounts on the 2k2's? What would be the symptoms of a failed mount? I assume one would feel more engine vibration and pulsing.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: I think
I'm a 6-spd. I know on the 2K and 2k1 the Auto's had the active mounts (not the 5 spds), but I thought I had read that on the 2k2's they all have active mounts. Maybe I'm wrong?

My car which has 5500 miles on it only has a rough idle when the AC is on. If I put it in ECON mode the car is smooth as silk. This problem has been there since the day I picked up the car but it has gotten better when I switched from Mobil gas to Shell, plus I got better mileage.
