power increase between 2-3k rpm???

maybe it's just me, or maybe it's the engines way of running. i notice that when i start speeding up, somewhere around the 2.5k rpm range, something else kicks in and it feels like the car goes faster than it would below that rpm. seeing as i know NOTHING about this engine, i do know that 3rd gens had VTC's and that kicked in at 2-3k rpm and you would hear it engage and the pick up was better. is that the same with 5th gens, and if so, what is it called. is it an improved VTC assembly?
thanx guys.

Weirdly enough, thats about where the VQ35 makes peak torque (somewhere around 3000 rpm). Do a search for dyno sheets of these cars and you'll see.

The intake manifold switches to a shorter runner at 3800 RPM, this gives a nice increase in power.

LOL haha yea the 7-11 crew is made up by a bunch of us local guys that seem to have a meet everyday of the week....lol really....the 7-11 on Francis Lewis Blvd. is our main hang out spot, lets say if we caravan 7-11 is where we meet, if we go out to DPA 7-11 is the place we meet then leave, if we just terrorize Francis Lewis we randomly just pop outta no where and bug out till the Cops kick us out, haha its fun .....
