Clifford Remote Start Video
Clifford Remote Start Video
Seemed like a lot of interest in the remote starter of the Auto Page so I thought I'd make a video of my Clifford for comparison. Got some video of the audio system too, I'll work on that later. And yes I do know my windows squeal, the dealer says they can't fix that because of the tint, oh well.
Video - 600K, 50sec.

very nice..
Strangely, I went in to look at the autopage again this weekend and they have 3 diff start modes, including RPM sensing. I wonder if installers are just getting lazy. They actually tried to talk me out of autostart on my maxima and they even sell Clifford as well. go figure.

"Selectable Voltage / RPM Start Sensing / Timer Start"
shop confirmed this. Obviously something is difficult to wire, even XM with his Clifford was saying his installers had to go to the bay for the correct signal. This may be more of an installer issue than an alarm problem. Dunno really...

The installers/shop owners continually have problems with remote starters on some customer vehicles. The shop I managed for 5 years during college decided to quit selling remote starters completely due to the constant increase in labor costs of installing remote starters. At my store all installers were clifford Avant Guard certified so it was not like they were a bunch of kids just having fun that had no clue to their job, granted when an expensive vehicle came in the shop for a remote start system, yours truly was the man of the hour.

If you need I can find out for sure where he got the input signal in the engine bay. The problem was that when I got my alarm installed, the wiring diagram was incorrect from the DEI database. And since this shop does a lot of custom work Dave (the installer) knew where to find an acceptable input. The new wiring diagrams may have fixed this problem though. If I remember right, the wiring diagram pointed to a purple wire from the insturnment cluster that was supposed to be the tach lead. It sent funky voltage readings so the engine would overcrank

Remind everyone, to remote start you have to get a frequency transponder that eliminates the effectiveness of the chip in the key. Also, don't let an installer/you mount the brains of your alarm in the panel below the steering column. Take the extra time and find a place that is less likely to be found. Search for previous post for my location. The SmartWindows modules are under the seat since they are just an accessory and helps facilitate a location for hooking up the CliffNet Wizard while keeping the brain secure.
