perhaps you meant "stock struts"? I can't imagine you having stock and H&R springs on at the same time.

In fact some of the material I read before I purchased my 02 was that the SE suspension was little harsh, then when I got mine I was like, it's not firm enough. I just say do the neccessary mods to get the suspension the way you want it.
I completely agree. From what I see here in NJ the demographic for the max is 40 something men/women... mostly women with a few kids. You know. Basic grocery getter+ People who think of the max as a "sports car" are in the extreme minority.

The most radical mod I've seen around here is a set of chrome rims. Trying to get a race, even with the riced out civics and neons is practically impossible. They don't even consider the max capable of a run.

Motor Trend Magazine seems to agree with your assessment.

Here's what the had to say after their first test run of the 2000 Maxima SE:

Track testing the latest Maxima produced mixed results. A 62.0-mph sprint through our slalom and 0.80g skidpad best failed to match hard numbers generated by the last SE we ran, and the new sport Maxima proved a serious handful when confronted with extreme trailing throttle/brake/steering inputs.

Keep in mind, their test was conducted with 215/55 16's for some reason. With 255/50 17's, the 2000 SE would have provided much better slalom/skidpad. Atleast equal, if not better than the previous SE model.

there are 2 part no. for the SE and GLE/GXE springs in 2k and 2k1. not sure about 2k2+

My 2000 was hit by 2 cars at an intersection and they had to replace the front strut and I was told it was a Koni so I figured/assumed the 02/03 SEs were using the same name brand with maybe a softer valve rate. Either way it sounds like the H & R springs are the way to go. The FSTB and RSTB would be the way to go even further if it were my car and not the wifey poos...after all She doesn't want her baby turning into my 87 GT.

What you are forgetting is what I already had mentioned earlier in this thread (Being Said Nicely) that we are talking MAXIMA SEs...Sport Editions...if people are buying a sport edition and b**ching that it's too sporty that is ridonkulous. They should get the GLE and they will have all the looks, the same engine, any luxury items they desire, but with a softer ride. This is why the Maxima line up kicks so much AS*. You can get the Mustang GT (Maxima SE), the Mustang LX (Maxima GXE) or the X factor in the GLE because they all have the same kicken engine, but with your pick of luxury and Sportiness. No matter what you want the Maxima has it.
