Tranny not smooth when stopping
Tranny not smooth when stopping
Hi,
My auto tranny seems to be ok downshifting when accelerating but it's pretty rough when I come to a stop. I can feel it going through all the gears before the car stops. It almost throws me forward a little. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make it smoother? Will adding fluid help?
Thanks,
Matt

i have a 2k2, and my car doesn't exhibit what you described. if i watch the tach, i see it go up in rpms as it shifts, but i dont actually feel the car lurch forward or anything. don't know what a good fix would be, but i would have it checked out.

I've got the same exact problem. I've never been able to describe it before but I think you nailed it perfectly. It almost seems like it's downshifting through all the gears when stopping and you can feel like "engine braking?"
