welp, i went to the track again with my stock 2002 (long)

and you'll be happy to hear that i hit 3rd gear each and every time this go around.

the contitions were as follows:

- 85 degrees on my first run, 81 degrees on my second run, and 76 degrees on my 3rd run.

- about 60% humidity

- front tires at 18 PSI. rear tires at 38 PSI (stock potenzas)

- nothing in trunk. no spare.

R/T.... .835
60'.... 2.342
330.... 6.355
1/8.... 9.620 @ 76.21mph
1000... 12.427
1/4.... 14.800 @ 94.97mph

R/T.... .1.057
60'.... 2.437
330.... 6.420
1/8.... 9.693 @ 74.44mph
1000... 12.494
1/4.... 14.870 @ 94.03mph

R/T.... .805
60'.... 2.419
330.... 6.431
1/8.... 9.687 @ 76.63mph
1000... 12.497
1/4.... 14.871 @ 94.97mph

i guess you can say i was pretty consistant. i am still not satisfied with my 60's though. 1st and 3rd runs i think i just launched it too low. i had PERFECT traction but my 60's still stunk. 2nd run i launched it too high and i spun all the way through 1st.

i had a false sense of accomplishment on all 3 runs. i smoked a camero on the first run so i thought i had an awesome time. but i didnt.
2nd run i raced like a 92 5.0 with Nitrous and he only beat me by a few cars so i was sure i nailed a good ET. but i didnt.
3rd run i went up against a 2001 SVT Cobra. we were talking before hand (he really liked my car) and he said he couldnt break out of the 13s but he feels like he should be running a 12.90. so we take off and he beats me by about 1.5-2 cars and i was PSYCHED! i knew i got a good ET this time! but i didnt. (he ran a 14.1)

anyway, MAYBE ill go back in the fall for one more shot at a respectable stock ET. but after that i have to give up on this "stock" crap.

I would say those are very good times. I mean I know the 60s are bit off, but your first run you did faily well on the r/t. I know alot of people have their r/t above 1sec. Honestly if you get that around .500 you would have an awesome time.

I thought r/t had nothing to do with the 1/4 mile time

Newman, without the wheelspin I figure you should be running about 14.4XX. A 6sp Max should be about 1/2 second quicker than my auto in the 1/4 mile.

Comparison: under similar weather conditions (@ Englishtown), my auto 2K2 did the following (no tire pressure adj. w/spare and slight wheelspin):

R/T.... .645
60'.... 2.259
330.... 6.287
1/8.... 9.609 @ n/a
1000... 12.472
1/4.... 14.902 @ 92.02mph

R/T.... .680
60'.... 2.341
330.... 6.324
1/8.... 9.624 @ 74.76mph
1000... 12.480
1/4.... 14.919 @ 92.71mph

R/T.... .689
60'.... 2.268
330.... 6.295
1/8.... 9.618 @ n/a
1000... 12.485
1/4.... 14.921 @ 91.67mph
** I ran more times on this day but, these are my best runs of the day.

BigDog, I could have had a 10 minute reaction time and still run upper 14s. R/T only matter in heads up OR bracket racing.

Those are really good times, as it must have been a 'slow night' considering what the Mustang's ran.

Nice times.

I went on Saturday here in Florida (Bradenton). Temp in 80s. Humidity felt nice so that means it was probably only in the 80%.

It was the first time since I added a bunch of mods that I got to run.

My best time out of 2 decent runs (4 total because some guy shut down the track with his leaking tranny) was:

60' 2.19
1/4 14.81
trap 94.1

That was my second run - car was still hot from the 45 min drive down - but I wanted to get the runs while it was cooler and before someone messed up the track. I had a 14.91 with ok launch (2.29) but bad shifting. The other 2 runs where I had very poor launches 2.6 ish and spun alot, I didn't even bother finishing them at full speed.

I was a bit disappointed since I ran a 14.7 with just Stillen intake and y a few months ago (and have done so on several occasions).

I'm beginning to thing that while my pilot sports are clearly helping me with my 60' times, they may be hurting my mph.

Not to shaby Newman. Once you get some(my)mods those 2.4 60's will bring you into the 14.4 zone. With a 2.3 60' , Only time will tell (maybe 14.2)

Your speeds are a bit low too. Since you don't have any power adders you should consider leaving 32 psi in your front tires. Dropping the presure on street radials doesn't really do much for traction and it will hurt your trap speeds.

That's interesting. It has always seemed like I got better traction with less psi - but then that might be because I usually run that way.

I may try that next time at the track as well since my mph is about 3 off of what it used to be with the sports.

Although I have "power adders" - I still don't have the torque that the 2k2 has (nor the hp - but I'm alot closer there).

It will add a little but thus far I have seen that it isn't worth the tradeoff even on a 2k2. I made my best al motor run the other night on full tire presure.
