Who would win in a race between an Integra Type R and a 2k Max 5spd? Just curious. I met this dude at a car show that has a yellow 2000 Type R. Pretty sweet lookin.

It would be a good race.. Stock 5spd Maxima may have a hard time. A few mods will be a good race.

If its the yellow Type-R I'm thinking, that guy has 318+Hp at the wheels I hear. Turbo Kit

 

Given the same driving skill, the ITR wins without a doubt. A 2600lb car with 160-165whp would pull a 3200lb 180-190whp max anyday of the week. If you do race one, be sure to bring it.

 

Though I beat one at the track, a properly driven ITR can beat a stock 2K2 auto! So it'll have less of a problem with a Y2K Max.

 

I think a '02 6spd Maxima vs. an Integra Type R would be a great matchup.

 

NO way ITR's do not put 165 down at the wheels!
It's more like 150whp.
And if it's a Type R, it's probably owned/driven by some cocky teenager to thinks Corvette ZO6's are slow
But yeah, if it's got a lot of mods then forget it you're history.

 

I have raced two new RSX Type S's with my 2K2 auto, and have beat both by a 1/2 car...I would think the ITR would be a good match up with a 2K max.

Buddy I hate to correct you but the ITR has 195hp so if you take 15% of that off it would equal out to about 161-162hp. Auto is about 20% loss through the drivetrain. Even the Accord V6 puts 158hp from 200hp to the crank. 150hp is like a TEG GSR.

 

looking at ITR times and trap speeds, id say it would be pretty close...in the quarter, from a roll on id give it to the ITR. Stock 5spd Maximas have hit high 14s with 93mph trap speeds, and ITRs get really similar times with slightly higher traps. In the quarter the maximas torque would help keep the race even, but from a roll on, ITRs have better high end than VTEC Ludes if im not mistaken. A 2k2 6spd would have no contest with a ITR in a quarter mile race, stock vs stock, 2k2 6spd have been running low 14s with good drivers with trap speeds in the range of 96-99mph, from a dead stop or roll on the 2k2 would win, the 2k2 auto on the other hand would lose to an ITR from a roll on, considering stock they trap similarly to stock 3Litre Maxima 5spds.

 

Ok I'm sorry i was mixing HP number in my head, I was reading the Dceember issuse of SCC yesterday and while responding I kept thinking, "was it 161 or 150?" The first being the TypeR and the second being the GSR.

Well you were right on the numbers you just mixed them around.

 

Their is a tape of someone with a modded 4th gen auto against a type R and he gave it a good run. I cant find it although.

 

i posted this when i had my 2k 5 speed with the basic bolt on's , keep in mind i also raced 2k 5 speed with the same mods my old maxima had and i just pulled away from 70 to 120 so in my opinion a stock 2k2 6 speed should roast a stock type r { a 2k yellow type r follows me on to the parkway and we race .round 1,we punch it doing about 70mph and stay even till he switches lanes as do i ,i end up a good ways ahead because he gets caught in traffic.round 2 i get behind him waiting for traffic to clear a little we punch it from about 70mph again he pulls about 1/2 car length on me before i wind out third but by the middle of 4th i reel him in and by 120mph or so i have about 1 1/2 cars and still pulling slightly when he slows down.last race he's on my bumper when i punch it doing 80mph and he stays about half a car behind me until i go into 4th and don't start to pull away till about 108mph or so.from my experience the itr is faster over 100mph than a gtp,cl-s ,tl-s ,celica gt-s and wrx.d#! that little basterd was hard to catch.}

 

i didn't race a type R nor was i really racing...

but here it goes anyway...

i was on my way to fresno from sacramento when i merged in front of an black integra going south on 99 from stockton crosstown freeway 4 coming from interstate 5... anyway it was a 45 mph downgrade curve but i usually take it at 60 to 70 when no traffic... so when i merged into 99 i was doing 75 already and saw to the him (could have been a girl, but couldn't tell cause it was dark already by then) to the left on the fast lane... i was ahead by 5 cars so couldn't tell whether it was a gs, gsr or typeR... he had wannabe HID's too so he could have been modded... well as soon as i jumped to the fast lane i was ahead by 10 plus cars and saw him speed up to stay with me... he pretty much stayed about stayed about 10 cars behind until right before the few exits to manteca where there was a straighaway with no traffic for about 2 miles and i gunned it till at least 110 before hitting the usual slow traffic at a curve... he followed suit until he got cut off by the slower traffic passing a semi... then as we approach the 120 exit to tracy, he finally moved into view... stayed pretty far behind until 99 opened up to 3 lanes south of 120 when i saw him started closing the gap real fast... i was doing 75 at the time in the middle lane and there was very light traffic (luckly no one ahead of me in my lane for another mile)... i guess he wanted to outrun me so as soon as he was about ten cars behind, i dropped it to 5th and realized it was still too high cause he had reached my rear passenger door on the left lane... dropped it to 4th and punched it... bye... bye...he faded away real quick until i shook him off with some high speed slalom through some slower cars until i hit a wall of 70 mph traffic... he must have turned off to salida because i was only cruising at 70 with very light traffic could not see him in my rear view mirrors (no cars for half a mile behind me) through chp territory of north modesto... i have yet to run with a typeR... look forward to it though...

 

Nope it wasn't the one you're thinking of. I'm in ohio and this guy's car was pretty much stock except for an exhaust, painted calipers and some engine dress up.
