There was a thread not long ago that mentioned that some company had custom built a supercharger for the 2K2 and it cost something like $6,000 for the whole job including install. That's crazy money for just a supercharger.

What were sales like of the 95-99 supercharger? Was it not good enough to justify looking into the 00-03 maxima supercharger?

Are there many supercharged Max's running around?

You are incorrect about the years in your post. The Stillen supercharger was for the 95-01 models. There is no supercharger for the 02-03 models because they have the new 3.5L engine.

I have no idea on sales figures.

Rumor has it Stillen "may" be producing one soon. If someone makes a kit for the altima it will fit the max too. Give it a little while for the 350Z hype to cool off.

Well the problem there is the engine bay and fitament in the altima is sooo tight on that side dont know if it will clear the frame. That is why there is all this talk about doing an eaton style blower with a crankshaft running across. But I cant say for sure, but since I am buying a s/c for my car in a couple of weeks, I have looked at the 2k2 (my co-worker/friend) hardcore and it dont look like it can clear.

With the 350Z hype about to blow open, Stillen is going to concentrate on making parts for that hardcore now.

It was me, and I was looking into it. There is nothing that has been done currently. I was doing research on having a shop custom fit an SC. Well it would have cost about $10,000 at least for all the custom work and SC. It was just not worth it to look into.

I doubt we will see much from Stillen on this. I think we can do a Turbo before we see an SC.

I know all about the fitment issues dude, I installed a SC on my 98 I30. But like you said they would have to have a shaft running across the motor. I'm sure stillen could figure it out.

Oh I agree. I have the whole thing drawn out and know exactly what needs to be done. It is just an issue of getting it done.

I wish Stillen would get on it, or even better would be a kit from Vortech themselves like they did for the 99 Si Civic.

Oh well, until then....

I'm sure we can convince some shop that hey, a supercharger kit for the 00-01 Max was $$$, can you make a 02 kit at a competetive price?

If it's easier, have a shop R&D a CAM job. Personally, I want both. I'm just hoping the Altima and 350Z really get things going for aftermarket support.

Do your homework buddy The Maxima has more front leg room. My rear passenger's comfort comes second.

How about doing an H shaped assembly for mounting the supercharger on the 2002 Maxima.? This is from a VR6 Jetta. Their engine bays are pretty crammed and they still fit blowers. They use spacers to clear things protruding on the left side of the engine bay. Here are some pics:

It is definitely possible. The major obstacle is to make a custom SC bracket. The piping & stuff is pretty simple & lots of places can do those...

no, sorry. There is noooo room on the left side of the motor. Plus there is a timing cover on the left side of the motor. The only way is to run an SC like Comptech did for the v6 Accord.

Put the driver's seat all the way back, then get in the back seat. Then do the same in the Altima. Then tell me who's bigger. Max by inches.

...and the 350 is RWD so the engine is turned 90 degrees.

That's from MSN Carpoint compare thingy. So you see, the Alt is bigger by mere fractions of an inch, and when you actually sit in the two cars side by side, the max feels bigger. When you set the drivers seat for a 6' person, then get in the back, you have plenty of room. Do the same in the Alt and your knees are way in the seat. All I am saying is that the hype around the Alt being so much bigger and stealing the market from the Max, is a bunch of BS. The places the Alt is bigger, isn't even noticable without instruments, except for the exterior dims, and then those aren't even significant.

Plus the optional equiptment that you have to add to the Maximas standard equiptment makes both cars almost the same price.

i agree wiht u ethan. but from what i understand they r going to make a SC for the 350 and since the 350, max, and alti all have the same VQ35 engine than they r going to make different mounting kits so that the SC set up will be universal for all 3 cars but just a different mounting kit, etc. i hope this is true!

2002maxima, are you comparing the 2k3 maxima and altima. because the side air bags aren't standard, its an option i think for the 2k2's. Mine has no options at all. i got the GLE base model. even when i got into an accident at 100 mph the other car rolling at 40 in front of me and bamm... no side air bags... if they do have em. then imma go to my dealership!!!!

The side bags are an option on 2k2. Standard on 2k3. My comparison was primarily to refer to the dimensions.
