Good buy on a 2001 AE?

I have been visiting this site for a while, but this is my first post. Either myself or my parents have owned many Nissans. I currently have a 2001 Sentra SE. My parents have a 2000 Xterra, they have also owned a Maxima, Altima, and Pathfinder at various times. In other words we love Nissans and have never had problems with them. I have always loved Maximas but could never afford a new one. I have found a deal on a used silver 2001 Maxima SE Anniversary Edition for $20500. It is automatic and has 16000 miles. It is loaded with every major option, i.e. leather, moonroof, bose, climate control, power/heated seats, etc. I talked to the dealer and they said it was a credit union reposession. What do you all think? Anything else I should find out? I'm thinking of offering $19500 or $20000? Or is $20500 a good deal itself? Thanks.

If its in your price range and the is in proper working condition. GO FOR IT.

ps get the VIN number and find out some history on the car before u buy. Dont want to get anything with structural damage

Please tell us where you can find a "loaded" 2k2 for $22500?

I hope loaded means...leather, moonroof, etc...

I looked on Edmunds at a loaded (leather, moonroof, etc) 2002 SE and TMV was a little more than $27000. I looked for the 2001 AE above and dealer price was around $23000. Are they only asking $20500 because they got a good buy at the repo auction? Any ideas?

$20,500 is about right. I'm sure you could bring them down since the 03's are out. If I were you, I would purchase a 02 Max instead of the 01. Since you want an auto, you shouldn't have too much problems locating what you need. Check out the classifieds on your local newspapers on Friday's and Saturday's. You will usually find good deals there.

i paid 22700 back in april and i live in sofl... check on the org, people have gotten better deals than me. i have 2k2 se auto with leather. i consider that loaded. only thing missing is sunroof, but that can always be added. dont forget, 22,700 is before +++, as the dealer would say.

Well, looked at the car tonight. The exterior could have been in better shape, quite a few dings and dents. The interior had a heavy cigarette smoke smell. Don't want that stuff. I guess I will keep looking.

Don't get me wrong, because I love my AE, but you should try for a 2K2. You'll love the extra HP, HIDs, and some other goodies. Of course, I think the AE looks better...so decide wisely!!

I think you would have enjoyed the car.

Guess that explains the 'deal' on it.

I WOULD SAY LOOK FOR A USED 2002SE, EVEN THOUGH ITS THE "ANNIVERSARY EDITION" IT IS JUST NOT AS FUN AS A 2002.

For $27,000, you are in the range of getting NAVI!!!

So I should be paying less than Edmunds? How much less? What is a reasonable price range (for an SE with leather, sunroof, no navi, etc.) if Edmunds is too high? Thanks.
