2K 5sp tranny, is it dying on me?
When I do upshifts from 2-5 or 3-5, when I have 5000-6000 RPM on the tach, I usually get a little bit of a grind, just like I missed a shift. I know I can't be missing that many shifts! if I let the RPMs drop, or never get them up there, there is no problem.
Anyone hear of anything like this or have hints they can pass along.

I don't remember missing 5th all that much, if at all.
As to pushing in the clutch, yeah, it's in all the way. I put my foot fairly high up on the pedal. The ball of my foot is at the top of the rubber and my toes on the arm, it's in.
Could a low tranny fluid level do something like that? (and also take syncros / gears with it.)

2nd to 5th gear @ 5000-6000RPM's the tranny needs a few seconds to slow down. The input shaft is doing 5000 rpms and the 5th gear syncro is only doing half that at best. Thats quite a load your asking for a syncro which is manufactured to catch/match speeds from coming out of 4th gear. A difference of ~500 or 750 RPM's at best.
Shift it a bit slower, come out of 2nd, wait a second, let your RPM's come down a bit before you put your shifter into 5th. Your tranny will be much happier. Just do the shift slowly and it wount grind.
