First race. White civic ex with CAI/Header/Catback and Zex 55shot nitrous in left lane, me in the middle, and 99 GTP with CAI/Catback exhaust/3.34"supercharger pulley, PCM ecu mod, suspension in the right.
We started around 10-15mph roll in first gear.

The civic runs 10.1 in the 1/8mile and the GTP runs consistent 8.9@77mph in the 1/8mile (or a high 13 in the 1/4)

The second race was me vs the same GTP and I got off the line first but my completly bald kuhmo tires (thanks to maximus1000) bogged horribly and he came flying past me. I started to pull back in 4th tho but we ran out of room. I guess its time to buy some falken azenis tires.

and how do bald tires make you "bog"?

PS: was that civic even racing?

 

well.. i dont considering it cheating if the other person doesnt have the same reaction time as me. I left on third honk (i was the one honking) and I left the line when the light was green. Second, the tires are bald and they spun up to redline, so I eased off the gas and they hooked at 2800k rpm, while the gtp just spun passed me as my car was trying to catchup. And I guess to answer the third question, of coarse the civic was going.

I wouldn't consider it cheating too, but I would say that because you were doing the "honking" you had an advantage over the other guys. It took a split second for the other drivers to react to hearing the honk and actually hitting the throttle. Like I said, I wouldn't consider it cheating. If someone else did the honking, I bet you and the GTP would be up and up. That civic really never had a chance.

I think you left a bit earlier than they did too. It seem like you did the third honk and hit it at the same time. It's usually third honk, then go, not third honk/go at the same time. That's how it seem to me. I'll watch the video again to be sure. Maybe it just seem that way.

 

The GTP will beat you on the low end every time, but unless they have roller rockers (which increases their lift) and/ or ported heads, you're going to get past them on the top end. they're really not that strong on the top end.

 

nice race! i dont think it was cheating. if u listen u can hear the 3rd honk. if he went early u wouldnt hear it over his tires scretching. but good race, especially the first one. d*mn those GTP's and low end torque. but bring them past 35mph and where does it all go
