2002 M/T Remote Start Question

I was thumbing through the ESM today looking for something and ran across something interesting. It appears that pin #44 (Green/Orange wire) of the ECU on a M/T max shows 0 volts when the car is in neutral and +12 volts when the transmission is in any other position. The ignition switch must be on for this circuit to function.

I'm wondering if you can use pin #44 to work with the DEI remote start unit as the "gear sense" wire. I haven't tested the ECM or wire voltage yet, but wanted to see if anyone has installed their own remote start in a 2002 M/T.

make sure the car is not in gear when you go to start it up.. there was a huge article in mobile entertainment and one in autosound about negligence of installers to inform people of these things and their cars would shoot forward upon startup.. no good.
