STOLEN HID's !!!
Unfortunately I made a mistake and took my new '02 Maxima to North Bronx/Yonkers thinking it would be safe...
As I was watching a movie at a friends house I heard some weird noise, already being paranoid that something was gonna happen to my new Maxima I decided to go check on it. The 20-30 seconds it took me to get my lazy *** up of the couch and walk to the front door it took those f*#&ing bastards to cut my alarm, pry my hood open and pop my HID's off..
NYPD told me that Maxima Xenon HID's are a hot item on the market now. And that the guys that did the number on my car were amatuers by the looks of it. SO EVERYONE PLEASE BEWARE!!!! Call your dealership and ask if anything can be done to prevent.... My mechanic suggested putting pins in the front grille since that is another way the lights can be stolen, also to put locking hoodpins.
PS The total damage was 4500$... THANK GOD for insurance!
HOLLA BACK!!!

while it destroys the lights, some people have had their lights forcibly ripped from the mounts, not even opening the hood.
We are working on some stuff, hopefully our collective input will slow this down soon.

sure, the bolt info is here

That is only going to insure they cant be removed with the tabs. In many places that would be security enough.. in NY/NJ, you guys are going to have to take much more extreme measures. I think an aftermarket alarm is #1, protecting access to your hood latch is #2 and finally the tamperproof bolts.

Which lights are considered the HIDs? I have a 2001 GXE and my lights are the ones in this picture. Are those HIDs?
PS- That is a picture of the user 'asu174' on this board, not my car.

Yeah, I was in Queens last week. I never left my car outside of the driveway. When I did drive it with the lights on I go alot of attention.

Also, get an alarm that sounds when you touch the car. That's what I hate about the factory alarm.
