Damn 18-wheelers

I was on the Hell of all Highways, I-81, on Saturday on my way towards Staunton, Virginia, when a truck blew a tire. The tire came off and i tried to dodge it, but no dice, i hit it. Now i have huge rubber marks on both sideskirts (don't have a digi cam yet, so no pics), and my alignment is all fubar'd. i know the rubber marks will probably come off with some bug and tar remover, anyone else have any experience trying to get rubber marks off of their car ? ? What'd you use ? Thanks.

You might want to give the clay bar thing a try; I've heard some pretty good stories with that. I had a similar incident happen to me when I was driving down a main road (wasn't a hwy) and one of the tires of an 18-wheeler blew just as I was coming up to it. All I heard was a big *BANG!* like someone shot off a shotgun with some smoke and right there and then, I gunned it and took off. The tire seemed to have exploaded, but luckily was still around the rim, shredded and flapping at this point.

Actually, a strong tar remover can get those marks off as well. Get a bottle of 3M Tar and Adhesive Remover to remove the marks, then wash the car.
