Can MAF sensor defect cause hesitation in 2002 Maxima 6 speed ?

Does anyone know if Mass Air Flow sensor can cause
the hesitation problem in the 2002 Maxima 6 speed ? I am still trying to find out what is causing my Maxima to hesitate and sometimes not accelerate
at all, as if the car does not know what to do when I try to speed up. Any new insights into this from any one who has this problems ? Also, does 2003 Maxima 6 speed have the same problem ?

one of the symptoms of MAF defect is that rpm will not pass 2400....I think hesitation of the engine is something else. I remember reading someone's similar posts and he had the same problem too...turned out its the engine mount.
