How many of you notice this?

I have a 2000 SE auto!
Your sitting at a light with your foot on the brake and you ease off the brake a little and the car just starts rolling.
Do any of you notice a shuddering?
Someone said it is due to the torque converter!

don't know how many cars you have driven but it has been my experience with several from all makes that automatics pretty much inherently 'idle' forward...

I think my max has this. Its like an out of rythm shudder if I can describe it accurately.

I think I've seen threads on it before. The org said it was norm, even a couple of 4 th gens had the same thing. I chock it up as signature effect of nissan's weak tranny.

shudder, like from the brakes grabbing yet letting the wheel start turning? or from the tranny?

Don't you just love it when someone asks a question then takes off??

I know, I know, 'back later'...it just helps others answer questions if the original poster sticks around to provide further info...

I haven't noticed this on mine. My guess would be that the brakes are not fully released and you're getting vibration from uneven rotor and caliper. Just a guess

Yeah! I thought I was being hypersensitive, but my 2000SE has a slight shudder at lights.

I think the best way to describe it is kinda like the high mileage "Honda-in-Reverse Shudders", if that helps describe it.

I thought I was being finicky on mine as well, but I too get a very light shudder if I just barely ease off the brake pedal when at a complete stop. I first thought it was ABS related (as you can tell I'm not very mechanically gifted) but I really wish I could understand why it does this??!

btw, my car is a 2002 SE. Hope we can get some more solid answers on this!
