loose hood

2003 SE

Every time I go above 120KM my hood starts to vibrate on the drivers side. It's like there is some excess air getting in from the front or something. I took it to Nissan and they added some more insulation but said this is a commen problem for this car.

Anyone else have this problem? This really sucks !!!

nothin like that on my 2k2 se, which i believe have basically the same hoods. go to your dealer and have him go out with you on the highway for a quick drive, then maybe when he hears how bad it is, he will do something about it.

a lot of org members are discovering this. It is a common problem. Try a search to find out what they've been doing.

This is a very common problem with most of the 5th gens. My 2k had the problem and the dealer tried to fix it twice with no luck.

Luckily my 2k2 has not had that problem yet.

I hear ya...............

I have a 2K2 auto and I've had the same problem from day one. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times. I told them about the TSB and Iwas told that my VIN was not in the range of VIN's in the TSB. I found that if you raise the hood stops on the drivers side about a 1/4 inch it will hold the hood tighter. This helped alot and the hood only vibrates slighty about 80 mph. The only problem with this is that raising the hood stop knocks the hood out of alignment with the drivers side fender I told the dealer what was going on and what I noticed and I told them I wanted the hood to line up. They had my car for hours and they told me that they had fixed the alignment problem. To my surprise, all the tech did was lower the hood stops so the hood would line up, but in doing this it took the tension off the hood and it vibrated like crazy. Needless to say I have given up on trying to get the dealer to fix this problem. I have now raised the hood stops so the hood doesn't vibrate and I'm going to leave it that way. I'm not very impressed with Nissan service.

I had a bad vibration problem on the passenger side of my 2k max. One of the rubber deals that go over the light was kinda of loose and lost its adhesion to the light. I said what the heck. I'll replace those. Well they were a few dollars ($6.04 each from Covenant Nissan in Paducah, KY). I have the sales receit and the descrption says, PACK-RIM F
Part NO.: 26033-27900

I think this is the right part number. Put these on, and the vibrations or my hood at high speeds were gone.

I think I might order that part to fix the hood vibration. What kind of tools do I need to install them? Is it fairly easy to do? Thanks

The TSB has a section where the hood has to be cemeted to the inside of the hood frame. They have a diagram of it as well. I haven't had it done yet, but I'm sure it will help once they do.
