Help! HP loss over 5800rpm

Help, just two days ago i noticed that my car is losing power sharply after 5800 rpms. When I first test drove the 2k2 maximas at the dealers, I hit the rev limiter with no problems. That's over 7000rpm, didn't feel any power loss. instead, the car felt like it didn't want to stop there, could have reved it higher. But now, i am having a hard time getting it above 5800rpms. It accelerates really slow once the engine gets past 5800rpms. I didn't mess with the engine at all, just took apart the intake pipings and i put it back together the way it was. but that was like 5 days ago, and i noticed this 2 days ago, so i am not sure if it is even the intake's problem. Any ideas on why this is the case? anything is appreciated...

make sure your MAF is plugged in...and that there are no leaks in your tubing (make sure theyre tight and aligned) whatever you do DONT START THE CAR w/o the MAF plugged in.

Since when does a Maxima have a redline over 7000 rpm??? Redline is at 6500 rpm. According to Nissan, HP peaks at 5800. Also, if you look at people's dyno numbers, power is usually dropping by then.

Redline and when the rev limiter kicks in are two different things. Redline is 6500 rpm, but I frequently rev both my 2k2 to just 7000 rpm (needle is just under the 7K tick).

Can be done.

To answer the question, however, have a look at the HP curve on the VQ35. Unlike the VQ30, the HP on the VQ35 peaks before redline and then drops off.

Halleluya...finally found other folks that

acknowledge that the 3.5 liter HP curves are such that it's pointless to rev them to redline...

can you explain this more in detail please? What do u mean by MAF is plugged in? Like whether or not it is screwed on tight to the airfilter box with those 4 screws? and what would happend if we started the car w/o the MAF "plugged in"? you said make sure there are no leaks in the tubing, would a leak cause this power loss? and what do u mean by aligned? the whole tubing is all curvy all over the place.... please help me understand, thanks....

well...just push down on the maf connector..a grey plug on top. All thoes screws should be tight. If the MAF is not plugged in and you started the car..the Check engine light would come on and you would not be able to rev past 2500 ( a.k.a. LIMP mode) and your dealer would hafta reset it, and theyd ask why it was unplugged. IF AIR somehow got into the intake manifold but not through the MAF sensor it would make your engine act up. Mainly because there is EXTRA air that the MAF has not accounted for. Yes the tubing is all curvy..but im talking about where they connect to each other..At the throttle body..at the MAF tube..etc.
