starting to worry about my tranny...

yeah, it was a chilly 30-ish degrees and I know you guys say yours slips alittle when cold, but after about 4-5 mins of driving and the temp gauge showing warm, I went to pass and when it downshifted... *nothing*... the RPM went up about 1000, then it shifted. This is not at 5000 rpm, this is like rolling at 2000... then it 'freewheeled' up to 3000+, hung there, then shifted. I might have even heard a squeal, hard to say. total dry pavement. freaky.
the part I'm concerned about is that I were merging in traffic, I might be dead. The car didnt accelerate for about 1-2 seconds. Then for the next hour it was instantaneous shifting. I tried to see if it would happen again and it would just snap my neck shifting, like the TCM woke up and took *all* the delay out. like I had done a VB recal or something. Bizarre.
any of you with the new TCM feeling this crazy stuff?

I've had a few transmission problems myself. I was changing lanes in traffic and when I pressed my gas pedal to speed up into the next lane my trans dropped into 1st from 2nd with a loud clunk like the gears weren't engaged and just caught. Ever since I got my new TCM my trans seems to change gears more often than before and more than nescessary.

I had the 'cluck' before the
TCM. Its something the 4th gens do too.. the car has tons of torque, so the max only downshifts to first when you come to a complete stop for like a second. Its true, you can pretty much take off in second in the 5sp, so the auto does it too when it thinks its appropraite.
so if you are rolling at 5 mph and lots of throttle quickly, it will downshift brutally.

So far, 11,950miles and no TCM problems *knock on wood*

I came across something sorta related in the manual today(I was waiting for somebody in the car for like an hour, and had loads of spare time)
Nissan mentioned some sort of fail-safe system that would engage under extreme conditions, locking the automatic tranny in some way to prevent damage (i don't remember the exact details), but the fix would be to turn off the car, and then turn it back on, and all the problems should theoretically go away..
Not sure if this is related to your experience, but take a look in your manual when you get a chance.. (under the auto transmission section, I believe)
