7500K, 8000K, 9000K HID Bulbs??? Are they interchangeable??

I was wondering if the difference between the 8000K and 6000K, 7500K etc. are just the bulbs or the whole ballast and everything. I've seen just replacement HID bulbs for sale about $100.00, and i was wondering if you got a bulb that's a 8000K bulb on a maxima would it work or not. I was just wondering if anyone really knows if this can be done, or does the temp rating basically represent the ballast, bulb, or the ballast and bulb combination. Thanks.

Ok, here is the deal,

If you buy the Hanabi kit from Freddie (97GLES) the 7000k and the 8000k use the same ballast. So if you lets say the 7k kit, then you can buy the bulbs from the 8k kit and use them. Supposedly, the 6k kit can not be used w/ the same ballast that is used w/ the 7k and 8k kit. although after talking to Freddie yesterday, he told me that the changed the 6k kit by not having the igniter as a separate piece anymore. Its more like the 7k and 8k kit which only has ballast, wires, and bulbs.......making it plug&play. I have the 8k kit and Im in love w/ it already after only having it on my car for about 2hrs! I just sold my 6k kit........

Any HID system should ignite and burn any HID bulb.

Same as any flourescent tube light fixture and bulb.

Same as any 110 Volt household bulb and socket.

They are all designed to run on the same principal. The color temp is determined by the gas mixture and additives they put inside the bulb.

I have both the deep blue and the crystal white purple bulbs for the Hanabi kit. All work on the same burners, which proves the theory. You can get variable burners that will change the intensity of the light output. A company called ASTEX USA makes a system with variable output burners. There web address is www.bi-xenon.com/Home.htm They have some nice systems, but a bit pricy.
