I take back all hatred of Meridian package...

When i was getting my max, the only one they had on lot that had everything i wanted included the Meridian package. This was an option i didnt want at all. Eventually i gave in and said, "fine, but i'll never use it."

after this morning, i take it all back.... The heated seats were nice (although i think they take too long to get warm), but the option that made me go "oooooh" was the one i thought was the STUPIDEST thing ever..... heated steering wheel.... i LOVE it.... warms up in like 5 seconds and warms my hands right up.

yet i think the placement of the button to activate should be elsewhere

I just had a chance to use them last night and I LOVE them too! However, did you notice the steering wheel heater has a mind of its own? It seemed to get hot then cold with the button light still on?

Oh, I couldn't agree more about the placement of the button...it's almost like they want you to crash!

is there any possible way to switch to/add heated seats and steering wheel without too much trouble? like buying a new car? the place i went to only had 3 manual se's and none had many options. and since a manual was my #1 priority, i have no options except for splash guards and sun roof.

in short...go to another dealer!!

really, if you aren't getting exactly what you want you will not be happy, and be even less happy every time you write that car payment check.

as for retrofitting, the seats might not be hard (but pricy), although the wheel is a WHOLE different matter, what with the airbag, stereo controls, etc. that need to be replaced or at least reconnected...

this dealer had the most manual trannies. and had decent service. people in south jersey just dont like driving stick.

i went to the largest vw dealer in the area cause i was looking at the passat too...they had 1 that was a stick.

so the steering wheel is 1 piece? like the ring and spokes arent separate? maybe i'll try and install my own seat-heat...lol

Get with DaveB to be sure, but I think that wheel is going to be a major project...

Word, me too. I am soon to be wiring aftermarket heated seats to the factory switches and I will do a how-to write up for it. Give me a couple weeks, and I'll post it. I'm just waiting for the old fart to finish my interior so I can go wire up the seat heaters.

nah don't be too hard on yourself. The timer has a mind of its own... i've yet to figure out what tells it to go on/off... doesn't seem to be based on any consistent time or temperature.

mine went out tonight, I think for good. Was nice and toasty for about 10 minutes, then shut off. Couldn't get it to warm back up over the next 2 hours of my drive? even after stopped and shut the car off for 15 minutes, the light came on but heat didn't.
Oh boy, another trip to the dealer
